The Center for Earth Observing and Space Research at George Mason University is currently operating a L-band HRPT satellite receiver located at 77.305W, 38.833N, 450m, corresponding to the roof of the Fenwick library in the Fairfax Campus.

CEOSR provides near real time data from:

  • NOAA Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellites (POES)
  • Chinese Fengyun 1-D

Along with the original data, CEOSR provides standard products as well, such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and others.

The main purpose of the antenna is to support CEOSR teaching and science mission, as well as to provide a service to the community.

Please contact us if you are interested in using CEOSR's data for your research, if you are interested in remote sensing classes, or if you wish to receive more information.
